Anti-dumping duties on imported polyester yarn under close scrutiny
VOV.VN - The Ministry of Industry and Trade is poised to hold a public consultation on August 30 to consider a further investigation regarding the application of anti-dumping duties on polyester filament yarn (PFY) originating from China, India, Indonesia, and Malaysia.
The Ministry of Industry and Trade issued a decision on April 6 to conduct an investigation into anti-dumping measures on polyester filament yarn (PFY) originating from China, India, Indonesia, and Malaysia.
Products under investigation are coded HS 5402.HS 33.00, HS 5402.HS 46.00, HS 5402. And HS 47.00. The investigation period is from January 1, 2019 to December 31, 2019.
However, the Ministry extended the time limit for the investigation for an additional six months until October 6, 2021.
According to data from the General Department of Vietnam Customs, the amount of polyester filament yarn imported into Vietnam increased from 154,000 tonnes in 2017 to 185,000 tonnes in 2019.
Domestic PFY yarn manufacturers have a combined capacity of churning out 350,000 tonne per year, while the domestic demand is estimated at about 270,000 tonnes per year.
