The move is meant to better support Vietnamese small- and medium-sized enterprises in their cross-border e-commerce and business expansion activities, thanks to Amazon’s international customers.

Amazon Global Selling aims to provide professional knowledge related to the sales of products on the Amazon website to enterprises. This will include creating lists of products and offering the Fulfillment by Amazon service.

Vietnamese sellers are able to offer their products on the new e-commerce platform Amazon Singapore at Amazon.sg, besides the long-existent Amazon.com. Local retailers, brand owners and manufacturers will also have opportunities to export their products using the online channel.

Vietnam is among the countries with a strong advantage in the manufacturing sector. With the recent launch of Amazon.sg, Amazon offers merchants ample opportunities to export local products and become a bridge for Amazon’s global customers, stated Bernard Tay, country leader of Amazon.sg seller services and head of Amazon Global Selling in Southeast Asia, Australia and New Zealand.

Hoang Minh Chien, deputy head of Vietnam Trade Promotion Agency (Vietrade), under the Ministry of Industry and Trade, spoke highly of Amazon’s efforts to assist Vietnamese enterprises in penetrating international markets.

In May this year, Amazon Global Selling and Vietrade jointly launched a program to support Vietnamese SMEs in expanding their business globally and building their international trademarks.

The program will select 100 potential Vietnamese SMEs whose products meet Amazon’s requirements to enjoy support from Amazon Global Selling, Vietrade and export partners. It aims to help these promising businesses improve their capacity for export through the Amazon e-commerce sales platform.

In addition, a number of training sessions will be carried out throughout the country to equip firms with basic knowledge to sell their products on the international market through Amazon.

Participants will receive special benefits, including training courses on direct or online selling, in-depth support and consultations and discounts from local service suppliers during the sales process on Amazon.

At the same time, the 100 selected firms will have opportunities to engage in the second phase of the plan, focusing on developing the trademarks of Vietnamese firms and products on Amazon.

Many local items, especially textiles and garments, footwear and handicrafts, have already received positive responses on the Amazon platform.

Amazon Global Selling plans to organize an ecommerce workshop in HCMC on December 4.

Participants will have a chance to find out more about ecommerce and learn from the experiences of successful retailers.
