AMAI Vietnam 2026 enhances agricultural supply chain connectivity

VOV.VN - The Asia Modern Agricultural Inputs 2026 (AMAI Vietnam 2026) opened in Ho Chi Minh City on May 27, aiming to help Vietnamese businesses connect directly with international partners and build more efficient supply chains.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Huynh Tan Dat, director of the Department of Crop Production and Plant Protection under the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment, emphasised that the global agricultural sector is undergoing a major transition toward greener, smarter, and more sustainable development amid challenges such as climate change, natural resource depletion, food security pressures, rising quality standards for agricultural products, food safety requirements, and environmental protection concerns.

For Vietnam, agriculture continues to serve as a key pillar of the economy, contributing to social welfare, stabilising livelihoods, and boosting exports, he said, adding that the country’s agricultural sector is making strong efforts to improve the quality of agricultural inputs, expand technological applications, and strengthen international cooperation.

According to Dat, the Government of Vietnam is focusing on developing ecological agriculture, modern rural areas, and professional farmers, while promoting digital transformation, reducing greenhouse gas emissions, advancing the circular economy, and increasing added value for agricultural products. In this process, agricultural inputs and crop protection products are expected to play a critical role.

New technological solutions, biological products, safer active ingredients, advanced pest management solutions, smart equipment, and the application of digital and automation technologies are becoming inevitable trends in modern agriculture, he noted.

Dat described AMAI Vietnam 2026 as a meaningful platform for government agencies, associations, research institutes, and businesses from Vietnam and abroad to exchange experiences, update technological trends, expand investment cooperation, and strengthen trade connectivity in the agricultural input sector.

Zhao Keli, deputy director of the Institute for the Control of Agrochemicals under China’s Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, said both China and Vietnam are major agricultural countries with growing demand for fertilisers and agricultural inputs.

The two countries have proposed strengthening cooperation in animal and plant quarantine, accelerating mutual recognition of quarantine standards for agricultural and aquatic products, and enhancing collaboration in preventing cross-border plant and animal diseases, he said.

He stressed that China and Vietnam have in recent years continuously expanded practical cooperation in agriculture, contributing not only to stronger economic ties but also to food security and sustainable development in both countries.

Based on the China-Vietnam Joint Agricultural Cooperation Committee mechanism, the two sides have implemented extensive cooperation programmes in crop breeding research, pest control, smart agriculture, and agricultural input trade, achieving encouraging results, he added.

This year’s exhibition has attracted more than 150 domestic and international enterprises showcasing and promoting agricultural inputs.

Beyond commercial exhibitions, the three-day event will also host a series of thematic seminars and panel discussions on trends and solutions for sustainable agricultural development.
