According to the ministry, Vietnam’s agriculture sector maintained steady growth during the 2021-2025 period, outperforming the global average, as domestic and international demand continued to rise. The country’s participation in and implementation of multiple free trade agreements have expanded market access, enabling Vietnamese agricultural products to deepen their presence in major and potential markets.

The ministry noted that the sector still has considerable room for development, particularly in deep-processed products, higher value-added goods and the application of modern technologies, which help enhance the global competitiveness of Vietnamese farm produce. Vietnamese agricultural products are now present in most markets worldwide.

Despite global fluctuations caused by pandemics, geopolitical tensions and climate change, The country’s agro-forestry-fishery exports have maintained growth momentum in recent years, continuing to serve as an important pillar of the national economy and contributing to economic growth, trade balance stability and improved rural incomes.

Regarding priorities for 2026, Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Environment Phung Duc Tien said the sector is likely to face persistent challenges, particularly those related to climate change, resource depletion and environmental pollution. In response, the ministry will focus on strengthening resource management and making more effective use of land and biodiversity to support sustainable agricultural development.

Forum seeks to boost Vietnam-China agro-forestry-fisheries trade

A forum was held in the northern border province of Lang Son on December 3 to seek ways to enhance the agro-forestry-fisheries trade between Vietnam and its neighbour China.
