Agro-forestry-fishery exports reach record high in 2022
VOV.VN - Vietnam’s export turnover of agricultural, forestry and fishery products set a record high of US$53.22 billion this year, representing an increase of 9.3% compared to 2021.
According to the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (MARD), this year saw a total of 11 Vietnamese agricultural products record a turnover exceeding US$1 billion each.
Among them, seven brought in a turnover of more than US$3 billion each, namely timber, shrimp, coffee, vegetable and fruits, cashew, rice, and rubber products.
This year the country enjoyed roughly US$8.5 billion in trade surplus in agriculture, forestry and fishery products, marking a rise of 30% against the same period from 2021.
Over the past year the MARD has worked closely alongside the Ministry of Industry and Trade to promote trade, open markets for products, maintain supply chains, and promptly solve problems to support businesses and farmers.
Moreover, Vietnamese businesses have moved to flexibly diversify markets and products in a bid to ramp up trade promotion.
Making use of free trade agreements (FTAs), especially the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership (CPTPP), has significantly helped businesses find out outlets for production consumption.
Furthermore, Vietnamese diplomats and trade counsellors worldwide have worked hard to allow local agricultural products to gain access to new markets. During the year, businesses were allowed to officially ship durians, sweet potatoes, and bird's nests to China, pomelos to the United States, longans to Japan, and lemons and pomelos to New Zealand.
