Agricultural sector geared toward Thailand 4.0

The Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives has expressed readiness to develop Thai farmers as “Smart Farmers” who use technology and innovation with agricultural activities.

Deputy Permanent Secretary for Agriculture and Cooperatives Thanit Anekwit on Tuesday delivered a special lecture at the seminar “Driving the Thai Agriculture to ASEAN with Thailand 4.0.”

He said the country’s development of the agricultural sector would be geared to technology and innovation and the government would urge the new generation to do agriculture in substitution of senior farmers. These young farmers would be developed to be “Smart Farmers” in line with the government’s “Thailand 4.0” policy, said Thanit.

To promote the use of agricultural innovation, the ministry, Kasetsart University, IMPACT Muangthong Thani and France’s Comexposium have signed an agreement to organize the 3rd “SIMA ASEAN Thailand 2017,” the region’s largest fair and international meeting on the agricultural business from 7 - 9 September 2017 at IMPACT Muangthong Thani.

The event will showcase innovation, technology, machines and the latest equipment in the agricultural industry.
