AEON to open first shopping centre in Mekong Delta this October
VOV.VN - AEON Vietnam has announced the firm will open its first shopping centre in the Mekong Delta in September 2025 and officially inaugurate it the following month.

AEON Tan An covers a total area of approximately 27,000 m² in Tan An ward of formerly Long An province, now part of Tay Ninh province. It is the firm’s eight shopping centres in Vietnam and the first in the Mekong Delta region, with a total investment of over VND1,000 billion. The project broke ground in May 2024 and was scheduled for completion in August 2025.
The shopping centre houses around 30 stores, including a supermarket, fashion and sports stores, bookstores, cafés, restaurants, entertainment zones, and a cinema. It aims to serve residents within a 15-minute drive, meeting the daily shopping and lifestyle needs of the local community.
According to Tezuka Daisuke, Executive Officer, Chief Vietnam Business Officer of AEON and General Director of AEON Vietnam, Vietnam is one of the Japanese retailer’s key markets alongside Japan. Under its plan through 2030, AEON intends to triple its current scale in Vietnam. To date, the firm’s total investment in Vietnam is approximately US$1.5 billion. AEON plans to allocate around 20–30% of its total overseas investment to foreign markets, with Vietnam being a strategic priority.
By the end of 2025, AEON is expected to open two other facilities in Hung Yen province and Ho Chi Minh City, alongside its Tan An shopping centre.
AEON notes that Vietnam’s retail market still holds significant growth potential, especially in the modern retail segment. Currently, the market is growing at around 7%, while AEON expects growth to reach 12% and maintain double-digit rates in the coming years.
