Additional Vietnamese enterprises licensed to export seafood products to China
VOV.VN - The General Administration of Customs China has officially approved an additional 23 Vietnamese enterprises to be able to export seafood products to the Chinese market.
The move is part of wider efforts undertaken by relevant agencies seeking to strengthen connectivity and negotiate with the Chinese side to swiftly handle technical barriers in order to expand the export markets for agricultural, forestry and fishery products.
So far, the China Imported Food Enterprise Registration system (CIFER) has unveiled that more than 800 Vietnamese enterprises are eligible to export goods to the Chinese market.
Last year marked the first time that China overtook Japan to become the nation’s second largest seafood import market.
Most notably, China will remove its stringent regulations placed on imports such as testing, sterilisation, and quarantine this year, which is anticipated to create further opportunities for local businesses to penetrate the world’s most populous market in the near future.
Although there are more opportunities from the Chinese market, from the beginning of the year, Vietnam's seafood exports are expected to endure a downward trend due to a global economic recession, according to the Vietnam Association of Seafood Exporters and Producers.
However, many businesses anticipate that seafood exports will bounce back from the second quarter of the year, with export turnover likely reaching US$10 billion this year.
