33 countries and territories to attend 8th Organic Asia Congress in Vietnam
VOV.VN - Around 550 delegates from 33 countries and territories across Asia and beyond are expected to attend the eighth Organic Asia Congress (OAC), to be held in Ninh Binh province, Vietnam, from September 16 - 19.
Delegates to the congress themed “Organics for a Better Future” include policymakers, experts, scientists, businesses, and agricultural development organisations who will discuss sustainable and organic agriculture.
The congress, held annually and rotating among countries in the region, aims to promote cooperation and development of organic farming in Asia. It is the continent’s largest annual organic agriculture forum, providing an opportunity for Vietnam to showcase organic products, exchange knowledge, attract green investment, and enhance international integration.
The three-day event will feature plenary sessions and thematic workshops centred on three pillars, namely Policy, Market and Organic Practices. Key topics include climate change, green finance, participatory guarantee systems, resource planning and conservation, as well as sharing production experiences, trade promotion, and scientific research supporting organic agriculture.
On this occasion, Ninh Binh will also host an international trade fair, featuring 250 booths. The seven-day fair aims to promote organic products and foster cooperation among local and international businesses and communities.
Jennifer Chang, executive director of IFOAM Asia, emphasised that Vietnam is witnessing strong growth in organic agriculture, making hosting the congress a valuable opportunity to exchange knowledge and share experiences with the international community.
This year’s congress will be co-organised by IFOAM-Organics Asia and Vietnam Organic Agriculture Association (VOAA).
