18 Vietnamese products face risk of trade defence investigations

VOV.VN - The Ministry of Industry and Trade (MoIT) has revealed the list of products which are at risk of investigation for trade defence measures, origin fraud, and illegal transshipment.

They include 18 Vietnamese products exported to the United States, such as plywood, kitchen and bathroom cabinets, artificial quartz stone, ceramic tiles, and electric bikes.

According to the warnings by the US Department of Commerce (DOC), plywood imported from the Vietnamese market into the US, which had a core using peeled board imported from China, would be subject to anti-dumping and anti-subsidy tax as applied to plywood imported from the Chinese market.

Plywood from Vietnam which has a core using peeled boards manufactured domestically or in other countries would be exempt from the tax.

Previously in June the DOC launched an anti-dumping and anti-subsidy investigation on made-in-Vietnam wooden cabinets, including kitchen and bathroom cabinets, which made use of Chinese parts that fell under the US tariff regime.

Moreover, the US has also imposed anti-dumping and anti-subsidy duties on quartz stone products imported from China, India, and Turkey.

The MoIT warned that local enterprises exporting products using quartz stone surfaces should ask their import partners to accurately declare the imported products according to the requirements of the US customs agency. The move aims to avoid being considered an anti-dumping measure.

It noted that enterprises exporting to the US should avoid using main materials imported from China and India.
