140 tonnes of durian exported to China through Lao Cai border gate

VOV.VN - A total of 140 tonnes of fresh durians have been exported to China through the Kim Thanh II international border gate in the northern province of Lao Cai, according to figures released by local authorities.

As a means of facilitating customs clearance, local enterprises are required to fully meet requirements set by specialised agencies in terms of food safety and hygiene control, residues of pesticides, as well as regulations relating to packaging and origin traceability.

Furthermore, Lao Cai province also directed relevant units at the border gate to facilitate customs declaration, whilst proactively contacting and co-ordinating with the Chinese side to speed up customs clearance procedures for local businesses.

Pham Hung, deputy head of Lao Cai Border Gate Management Board, said with the great efforts made by border management agencies of both sides, the Lao Cai international border gate will be an option for local firms seeking to export their agricultural products, including durian fruit, to the Chinese market in the near future.

Fresh durian products have been officially exported through Lao Cai since October 11, based on the Protocol signed between the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development of Vietnam and the General Administration of Customs China (GACC) related to phytosanitary requirements placed on Vietnamese durian exports.
