13,400 taels of SJC-branded gold bullion sold at May 23 auction
VOV.VN - Eleven bidders successfully bought a total of 13,400 taels of SJC-branded gold bullion that the State Bank of Vietnam (SBV) had put up to auction on May 23.
The highest winning price was VND88.73 million and the lowest was VND88.72 million per tael, according to the central bank.
The total volume of gold bullion on offer at the auction was 13,400 taels, the highest figure so far, with 11 winning bidders securing 134 lots.
This marks the sixth successful auction out of a total of nine auctions, while the other three were postponed due to insufficient registered bidders.
So far, 48,500 taels of SJC gold have changed hands since this year’s first auction held in April.
On the domestic market, gold prices tumbled slightly on May 23. At 2 p.m., Bao Tin Minh Chau Company quoted gold bar prices at VND87.85 million per tael for buyers and VND89.5 million per tael for sellers.
The global gold market also slumped on May 23 by US$51 compared to the previous trading session to hover around US$2,370 per ounce.
