Voters extoll 13th legislature's performance
VOV.VN - Voters nationwide have hailed the end-of-term reports of the President, the government, and the Prime Minister over the last 5 years.
Vietnam has signed a number of free trade agreements during this period. Economist Nguyen Minh Phong said that one of the country's most important achievements was its stabilization of the macro-economy, control of inflation, and prevention of speculation on foreign currency markets.
“I hope that the new leadership will increase people’s trust with their reform commitments. I also hope that the new government will take specific measures to overcome the current difficulties and aim for greater future success," he said.
Nguyen Duy Thanh, Chairman of the Toan Cau Housing Management Company in HCM city, said, “The 13th NA approved the 2013 Constitution and issued many pragmatic laws that will nurture business development. Its performance was quite impressive.”
Also relating to the law-making body's activities, the NA Standing Committee on March 30 will report on the resignation of the National Assembly Chairman and Chairman of the National Electoral Council at the ongoing National Assembly session.
NA deputies will also discuss and vote on personnel for these posts. Deputy Secretary General of the National Assembly Le Minh Thong said,“One of the key issues of this National Assembly session is to complete the state leadership. The whole process will be carried out in line with Vietnamese law. The four leaders of Vietnam will be sworn in for the first time according to the 2013 Constitution.”
NA deputies will spend 10 days on completing the state leadership which includes the President, the Prime Minister, and the NA chairman. A number of officials who were elected to the Party politburo and have been assigned new tasks will resign from their former posts.
The National Assembly will also endorse cabinet members, elect Deputy chairpersons of the NA, and a number of members of the NA Standing Committee.
