VFF introduces candidates for general election

Nguyen Thien Nhan, Politburo member and President of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Central Committee (VFFCC) was introduced as a candidate for the election of deputies to the 14th National Assembly and People’s Councils at all levels for 2016-2021.

At a conference held by the VFFCC’s Presidium in Hanoi on March 8, Tran Thanh Man, a member of the Party Central Committee and VFFCC Vice President was also introduced for the election.

The conference further selected three outstanding members of the VFFCC for the election, including Prof. Tran Dong A, a lecturer at the Ho Chi Minh City-based Children’s Hospital 2; Y Tru Alio, Vice Rector of Tay Nguyen (Central Highlands) University and Nguyen Thi Nguyet Huong, CEO of TNG Holdings ., Corp.

Addressing the event, VFFCC President Nhan said the Presidium organised the first consultative conference on the structure and number of candidates.

He said the introduction of candidates representing the VFF and its member organisations is of special significance to the second consultative conference on the anticipated list of candidates slated for March 17.

The election of deputies to the 14 th NA and People’s Councils at all levels of the 2016-21 tenure will take place on May 22, 2016, which is a Sunday in line with the law.

The date was approved by the NA on November 24 during the 13th legislature’s 10th session.
