Meeting on August 18 with dignitaries and representatives of seventeen religious organizations on the occasion of the 71st anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day, the State leader said religious activities should aim to promote national unity to develop Vietnam into a prosperous, equitable, democratic and cultured country.
The Party Committees and authorities at all levels need to communicate and popularize Party and State guidelines, policies and laws on religions, and provide patriotic education, and awareness of the importance of defending national sovereignty and Vietnam’s territorial integrity.
President Tran Dai Quang also urged the Vietnam Fatherland Front, the Government Committee for Religious Affairs and other organisations to encourage religious dignitaries and followers to integrate into the community, engage in patriotic movements and raise the sense of vigilance against hostile forces who aim to take advantage of the religions to sabotage the Vietnamese people’s revolutionary cause.
Religious organizations need always to stay united in the cause of national construction and defence, he said.
