Prime Minister hails Military Region 4 on defence, stability

Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc has hailed Military Region 4 of the Vietnam People’s Army in central provinces for efforts to strengthen national defence and security, maintain political stability and social order.

During a working visit to the Military Region on August 14, the PM said the region’s High Command has also fulfilled tasks in building strong armed forces.

He urged officers and soldiers of the Military Region to increase political education, be proactive in properly handling emerging issues relating to national defence and security in the region, and closely work with authorities of Nghe An Provinces and other localities to maintain political stability and social order and contribute to the socio-economic development tasks of central provinces.

They were also instructed to actively join search and rescue missions in emergency cases such as floods and other natural disasters.

PM Phuc stressed that the Government attaches great attention to not only economic development but also national defence, and it will strive to create resources for the army to protect the nation.

The PM also visited and offered incense at Kim Lien, the home village of late President Ho Chi Minh.

He later attended a musical programme commemorating thousands of youth volunteers who were killed at Truong Bon in Nghe An’s Do Luong District during the war against the US.
