President visits Saigon New Port Company
(VOV) - Defence Ministry and HCM City leaders have accompanied State President Truong Tan Sang on his February 16 visit to cadres and soldiers of the Saigon New Port Company (SNP).
SNP Director Admiral Nguyen Dang Nghiem noted his company has received more than 32,000 ships representing 300 million tonnes in cargo output over the past 24 years, attaining a 25 percent annual growth rate and recording year-on-year increases in revenue and profit.
SNP has 4,100 employees with monthly incomes of VND18 million, enjoys relations with 85 global shipping agents, and boasts the 34th largest volume of custom clearance cargo among international container ports.
President Sang called on the company to take the lead in capitalising on port resources and logistic services, boosting economic development by reducing transport fees through investment, and improving competitive capacity compared to other regional ports.
The company should play a crucial role in helping thousands of businesses promote their regional and global economic integration. It must keep its technology at the cutting edge of innovation and shorten uploading time to increase business and production efficiency, Sang said.
