Vietnam’s achievements in 2013 will encourage national forward progress in the New Year. We are determined to live up to our glorious history and provide for future generations.

I urge fellow countrymen, comrades and soldiers across the nation to pool our strength and unite behind reform, democracy and progressive thinking in the interests of national development.

The New Year coincides with the arrival of spring. In this sacred moment, I cordially extend my best New Year’s wishes to Vietnamese people at home and abroad and to the soldiers and officials on duty along borders and in remote areas.

May the New Year bring peace, prosperity and happiness to Vietnam and its people, and may spring refresh our spirits and inspire new victories."
