PM highlights public feedback on the revised Constitution

The collection of public feedback on the draft of the revised 1992 Constitution aims to meet the Vietnamese people’s expectations.

Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung made the affirmation in the northern city of Hai Phong on March 19 while meeting with representatives of former soldiers who fought the Dien Bien Phu battle in 1954.

Mr Dung said the focus of the revised Constitution is on successfully realizing the goals of national industrialisation and modernization, firmly safeguarding the independence, territorial sovereignty and integrity of the country, bringing into full play citizens’ rights and mastery role, and building a law-governed Socialist Vietnam of the people, by the people and for the people under the Party leadership.

He stressed that the Party and State call on and create all favourable conditions for every citizen to contribute their ideas to the draft amendments in the highest sense of responsibility.

The Government leader called for co-ordinated action against unconstructive speeches and schemes to break the great bloc of national unity.

Ensuring national unity and socio-economic stability is a prerequisite for the whole Party, armed forces and people on the way to achieving the important goals approved at the 11th National Party Congress.

The same day, the Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee’s Commission for External Relations also held a conference to gather its cadres and officials’ opinions on the draft of the revised Constitution.
