PM gives reprimand to Deputy Information Minister Pham Hong Hai

Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc has reprimanded Deputy Minister of Information and Communications Pham Hong Hai as a disciplinary measure for his violations in the case regarding MobiFone’s purchase of 95 percent of the shares of AVG Audiovisual JSC.

Earlier, under a decision issued on July 3 by the Party Central Committee’s Inspection Commission, Hai, who is member of the ministry’s Party Committee, was also disciplined.

According to the Inspection Commission, he was partially responsible for violations and wrongdoings committed by the ministry’s Party Committee during the 2011-2016 and 2016-2021 tenures. 

Hai violated the principle of democratic centralism and working regulations and was irresponsible and lax in leadership, management, inspection and monitoring, letting MobiFone commit serious violations in implementing the project. 

He also signed several documents relating to the project with contents against the legal regulation.
