New Finance Minister to be named soon

(VOV) - Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung has proposed General Auditor Dinh Tien Dung to replace predecessor Vuong Dinh Hue as Vietnam’s new Minister of Finance.

Dung presented a report to the ongoing National Assembly session on May 23, relieving Hue of his post and nominating General Auditor Dinh Tien Dung to fill the vacancy.

The National Assembly agreed to relieve Hue of his position with 85 percent of votes in favour. It will consider the government’s proposed replacement on May 24.

If the legislature approves the government’s nomination, it will need to elect a new General Auditor.

The NA Standing Committee will introduce the candidates for the General Auditor post.

Born in 1961, Dinh Tien Dung was elected State General Auditor in August 2011.

Hue, a Party Central Committee member, was appointed Minister of Finance at the first session of the 13th National Assembly last year.

The Party’s Political Bureau assigned Hue to head the Party Central Committee’s Economic Commission in December 2012.
