National Assembly Standing Committee opens 33rd meeting

The Standing Committee of the 14th National Assembly opened its 33rd meeting in Hanoi on April 10 under the chair of NA Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan. 

The meeting, which will last until April 18, will focus on bills and draft documents to be submitted to the upcoming 7th session of the NA, and preparations for the session. 

In opening the meeting, Chairwoman Ngan said the committee is scheduled to give opinion on nine bills, including the draft law on exit and entry of Vietnamese citizens, draft law on reserve forces and conscription, the draft revised law on securities, and the draft law on adjustments and supplements to a number of articles of the Law on Cadres and Public Servants and the Law on Public Employees. 

The committee will consider the draft law and ordinance building programme in 2020 of the NA, the draft programme on supervision activities of the NA and the NA Standing Committee, and preparations for the NA’s 7th session. 

Also tabled for discussion are a report on the supervision of the enforcement of laws and policies on land planning, management and use in urban areas since the 2013 Land Law took effect to the end of 2018, and the Government’s report on the practice of thrift and the fight against wastefulness in 2018. 

Other items on the agenda for this meeting are a list of projects to be funded by reserve funding of the mid-term public investment plan (2016-2020) and the addition of new projects to the mid-term public investment plan, along with the adjustment of administrative boundary of five communes, the dissolution of one commune in Dong Nai province’s Long Thanh district, and the establishment of five wards in Long Khanh town and Long Khanh city in Dong Nai.

After the opening ceremony, the NA Standing Committee discussed the draft law and ordinance building programme in 2020 of the NA, the adjustment of administrative boundary of five communes, the dissolution of one commune in Dong Nai province’s Long Thanh district, and the establishment of five wards in Long Khanh town and Long Khanh city in Dong Nai.
