National Assembly debate revised legislature bill
National Assembly (NA) deputies debated the draft revised law on the organisation of the National Assembly at a plenary sitting on October 22 during the legislature’s on-going 8th session.
The discussions focused on the functions, tasks and power of the NA, the NA Standing Committee, other committees of the NA, agencies under the NA Standing Committee and the working budget of the NA.
Many opinions also addressed the role, position and qualifications of NA deputies, the proportions of full-time deputies and female deputies and a number of issues related to the vote of confidence of officials.
The NA also heard proposals on the draft law on natural resources and marine and island environment and the draft revised law on the Vietnam Fatherland Front as well as reports of NA’s committees verifying those two draft laws.
The NA convened its 8th session on October 20. The session will last 35 working days, the longest session this tenure so far.
