NA Standing Committee opens 15th session in Hanoi

VOV.VN - The National Assembly (NA) Standing Committee convened its 15th meeting in Hanoi on October 11 to finalize preparations for the 4th session of the 14th NA set for late October.

In her opening speech, top legislator Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan said during the session, the committee will review reports collecting the opinions of voters nationwide for submission to the NA’s meeting, and review the settlement of voters’ petitions sent to the legislature's meeting. 

The committee will scrutinize reports on the implementation of the socio-economic development plan and State budget this year. NA deputies will also look at the North-South Highway project and the delayed application of new textbooks for general education. 

The top lawmaker also touch upon personnel issues for discussion.

NA Vice Chairwoman Tong Thi Phong said 570 petitions have yet to be fully dealt with, asking relevant agencies to promptly settle the remaining petitions. 

Phong urged ministries and agencies to coordinate with each other to clear up petitions and concerns of voters and people and underlined the need to enhance the NA supervisory work and the communications role of media agencies. 

At the 4th session, the legislative body will decide the posts of high ranking leaders and the NA will work with the Party Central Committee’s Organization Commission on this issue.
