NA session agenda announced

(VOV) -The 9th plenary session of the National Assembly is due to open on May 20 and conclude late next month.

At a press conference in Hanoi on May 19, head of the NA Office Nguyen Hanh Phuc said high on the meeting’s agenda will be building laws and ordinances to realize the 2013 Constitution.

The NA is set to adopt 11 bills and one resolution, including draft laws on government organization, local administration organization, election of deputies to the NA and People’s Councils, and a revised law on state budget.

“A number of important laws pertaining to the judiciary, like the civil code, the penal code, and the criminal procedure code, will be debated at this session. Because the Civil Code is regarded as the general law in Vietnam’s legal system, its draft has been published for public feedback. Comments by the public and competent agencies will reflect their interests in the legal document.”, Phuc said.

Deputies will also consider 15 draft laws including a bill on referendum, 6 reports including a report on wrong judgments due to the application of the penal code, the criminal procedure code, and compensations for those suffering from an unjust conviction.

Four resolutions including a project to develop Long Thanh International Airport are to be ratified.

Vice Chairman of the NA Office Nguyen Si Dung said NA deputies will appraise a supplementary report on the implementation of socio-economic development and State budget plans in 2014 and the first few months of this year.

They will also review a report by the NA Standing Committee on the settlement of voters’ opinions sent to the NA’s eighth session and another report on the organisation of the recent 132nd Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU), he added.

The opening and closing ceremonies, discussions on the socio-economic performance and State budget reports, and question time sessions will be broadcast live on television and radio.
