NA deputies convene 10th session in Hanoi
(VOV) - On October 20, the 13th National Assembly (NA) opened its 10th session in Hanoi after a preparatory meeting to discuss and vote for the approval of the agenda of this meeting.
Following the opening speech of NA Chairman Nguyen Sinh Hung , NA deputies will hear reports on the socio-economic situation this year and five years from 2011 to 2015, and orientations and tasks for 5 years from 2016 to 2020, and for 2016.
President of the Vietnam Fatherland Front (VFF) Central Committee , Nguyen Thien Nhan will present a report on opinions and recommendations of voters nationwide.
NA Committee for Economic Affairs Chairman Nguyen Van Giau’s report will review the results of the implementation of the NA Resolution on the socio- economic development plan in 2015 and 2011- 2015 and, similar plans for next year.
NA Office Chairman Nguyen Hanh Phuc said the deputies will also elect the council’s chairperson, vice chairpersons and members.
The NA General Secretary will be elected at this session and the date for the NA and People’s Council elections will be decided.
During the 31 working days through November 28, the legislators will consider adopting 18 laws and 16 resolutions and scrutinise eight draft laws, including those on judicial activities and human and citizen rights, he added.
Two and a half days of question-and-answer (Q&A) sessions will be different from those at the NA’s previous sitting, Phuc said, noting that all cabinet members are requested to respond to inquisitions on their performance and the implementation of NA resolutions.
At this session, the NA will decide the date for the elections of the 14th legislature and People’s Councils of the 2016-2021 tenure. The NA is set to set up the National Electoral Council, elect the Chairman and approve the Vice Chairmen and members of the council.
The NA will also elect a General Secretary of the law-making body.
Twelve working sessions focusing on issues of of great public interest will be broadcast live via television and radio.
