Lawmakers question cabinet members on labor, information issues
VOV.VN - On April 18 Minister of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs, Dao Ngoc Dung has proposed several measures to improve productivity at a Q&A session with lawmakers in Hanoi.
The session is part of the National Assembly Standing Committee’s preparations for the next National Assembly session scheduled to begin on May 20.
“We need to restructure our human resources toward reducing the employment of laborers. It’s also important to get businesses involved in vocational training and apply advanced technologies in production”, Minister Dung told NA deputies.
Information security and handling distortions on the internet captured the particular attention of many lawmakers. Minister of Information and Communications Truong Minh Tuan said that the development of social media is irreversible and Vietnam should make full use of these important channels for the benefit of the country and people, rather than impose certain restrictions.
“We have established legal basis to request the removal of distorted information from various sources. Information transparency and media planning are fundamental solutions to dealing with fake news. Technically, we’ll ask Google, Facebook and other foreign companies to obey Vietnamese law," Minister Tuan said.
He added that in the long run, domestic businesses are encouraged to initiate social media networks that can compete with Facebook in Vietnam and Vietnamese authorities will strengthen international cooperation to prevent harmful information on the Internet.
