Lawmakers mull ways to turn tourism into spearhead industry

VOV.VN - A series of proposals to boost tourism were delivered on May 29 at a National Assembly plenary session on revising the Tourism Law.

Bui Thi Quynh Tho, a NA deputy from the central province of Ha Tinh province said, “Incentives should be specified in laws in order to turn tourism into a key industry with a revenue of US$35 billion by 2020.

There should be preferential policies on tax, investment, planning, land clearance and regional connectivity. It’s essential to define the responsibility of administrations at all levels in tapping their localities’ advantages.”

National Assembly deputies agreed on the need to establish a fund for tourism development support and increase investment in creating unique tourism products as well as promoting Vietnam’s tourism potential.

Also at the session, Chairman of the NA Law Committee Nguyen Khac Dinh presented a report reviewing the draft revised Law on Complaints.

Later, Chairman of the NA Finance-Budget Committee Nguyen Duc Hai delivered a report on acquiring feedback on the draft revised Law on State Asset Management and Use.

As many as 19 lawmakers gave their opinions on the management and use of public assets in State agencies, public administrative units, political and social organisations, and State agencies’ duties and responsibilities for public assets.
