Lawmakers discuss crime combat on November 6

Legislators debated the fight against crimes and law violations, judgment execution and anti-corruption at the fourth sitting of the 14th National Assembly (NA) on November 6.

Vuong Ngoc Ha, a deputy from Ha Giang province, speaks at the working session
They heard reports presented by the Chief Judge of the Supreme People’s Court and the Prosecutor General of the Supreme People’s Procuracy, along with the Government’s reports on the issues.

The deputies traced the root causes of the increasing cases of drug, economic, corruption, high-tech and organised crimes, deforestation, disorder and insecurity in hospitals, child sexual abuse, murders and violations of food safety regulations in 2017, while setting forth solutions to combat crimes in 2018.

Apart from pointing to achievements and shortcomings of the court and procuracy sectors, they looked into the fight against corruption, suggesting the Government rightly evaluate the role of the public in the combat.

The lawmakers underlined the need to make it clear corruption in law-protection, investigation and other concerned agencies.

They are scheduled to continue to scrutinise the reports of the Chief Judge, the Prosecutor and the Government on November 7 morning.

In the afternoon, they will mull over the settlement of complaints and denunciations in 2017.

The working session will be broadcast live by the national television and radio channels and widely covered by the media.
