Lawmakers debate revisions to Law on Credit Institutions

Deputies of the 14th National Assembly on October 26 debated the draft bill on amendments and supplements to some articles of the Law on Credit Institutions.

The discussion focused on the principle of placing credit institutions on special control, the plans of compulsory transfer, restructuring of institutions and commercial banks subject to special monitoring.

The deputies debated the structure, authority and tasks of the Committee for special monitoring of the institutions, as well as the mission and power of the State Bank of Vietnam to credit institutions placed under special watch.

They also gave ideas on the unity of the bill to some articles of the Constitution and other relevant laws.

At the same time, the lawmakers gave opinions to a report verifying the bill on amendments and supplements to several articles of the Law on Overseas Representative Mission of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam.

Earlier, with the majority of ‘yes’ votes, the deputies approved the appointment of Nguyen Van The as Minister of Transport and Le Minh Khai as Government Inspector General by secret ballot. They also adopted the resolution on the approval of the Prime Minister’s proposal on the appointments.

On October 27, the deputies are scheduled to debate the verification report on the feasibility study of the project on land retrieval, compensation, support and re-settlement for Long Thanh international airport, and discuss in group the revised Competition Law.

They will also discuss some contents of the revised Law on Fisheries.
