Istanbul Convention,cross-border transports under NA discussion
VOV.VN - The National Assembly Standing Committee has commented on the government proposal on Vietnam’s joining the 1990 Istanbul Convention on Temporary Admission.
At the 14th session in Hanoi on September 20, Committee members said the membership will facilitate simplifying and harmonizing temporary admission procedures, and assist management agencies in overseeing temporary imports and re-exports and vice-versa.
National Assembly Vice Chairwoman Tong Thi Phong said the Standing Committee agreed with the proposal and called on the government to issue related regulations once the Convention membership process is completed.
The committee members said joining the convention will facilitate international trade and harmonise procedures for temporary management, thus helping management agencies better control import for re-export and export for re-import.
Chairman of the NA Committee for External Relations Nguyen Van Giau said countries joining the convention will have more options to apply temporary storage of goods, in addition to the transit of goods which is being applied in Vietnam.
The Standing Committee commented on a proposal to sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for implementing the Greater Mekong Subregion Cross-Border Transport Agreement. They said the signing of the MoU is necessary as it is in line with the 2013 Constitution.
The National Assembly Standing Committee also discussed the draft revised law on anti-corruption, which has a separate chapter on clarifying assets and incomes.
