Vietnamese party delegation visit Brazil

A delegation of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) led by Hoang Binh Quan, member of the CPV Central Committee and Chairman of the CPV Central Committee’s Commission for External Relations, visited Brazil from September 15-16.

During their stay in Brazil, the Vietnamese delegation held talks with a high-level delegation of the Communist Party of Brazil (PCdoB); held working sessions with Acting Brazilian Foreign Minister Marcos Garvao; Secretary of the PCdoB Organisation of Rio de Janeiro Joao Batista Lemos; and Paulo Paim, member of the Workers’ Party (PT) Central Committee and member of the Board of the Federal Senate. Quan also attended and delivered a speech at a live broadcast session of the Brazilian Senate.

At these meetings, Quan congratulated the BT on the success of its sixth National Congress and conveyed National Assembly Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan’s invitation to the Brazilian Senate President to visit Vietnam in 2018.

He also briefed the hosts on the Vietnamese situation and discussed measures to further promote cooperative relations between the two countries through the Party, parliament and Government channels in the time ahead.

The leaders of the Brazilian Foreign Ministry, Senate, PCdoB and PT spoke highly of the Vietnamese Party delegation’s visit to Brazil, hailing it as a motivation to boost the partnership between the CPV and Brazil’s political parties, between the two parliaments as well as between Vietnam and Brazil, as the two countries are celebrating 10 years of the signing of the Comprehensive Partnership Agreement.

The leaders of PCdoB and BT briefed the Vietnamese guests on the situation of Brazil, the Brazilian parties and the region, and highly evaluated the socio-economic achievements Vietnam has attained after over 30 years of Doi Moi (reform).

They voiced their wish to boost ties with the CPV in the coming time by exchanging delegations, sharing information and experience and training officials, and invited the CPV to send a delegation to attend the 14th National Congress of PCdoB slated for November.

Expressing his delight at the fine development of Vietnam-Brazil relations over the past years, Garvao and Quan discussed specific measures to further bolster bilateral relations.

The Brazilian official also agreed on Vietnam’s recommendations to enhance political ties between the two countries via cooperation mechanisms, especially the Joint Committee and the exchange of high-level delegations.

Both sides agreed to continue coordinating and supporting each other at multilateral forums, accelerating bilateral economic-trade-investment relations, especially in the key fields which are complimentary to each other, such as wind energy, agriculture, fishery, aviation, tourism, sports and culture, and striving to lift the two-way trade value to US$10 billion in 2020.
