Vietnam, Oman celebrate 25th anniversary of diplomatic ties
VOV.VN - A meeting to mark the 25th anniversary of Vietnam-Oman diplomatic ties was held in Hanoi on November 23 with the participation of Assistant Minister for Foreign Affairs Pham Sanh Chau, Oman Ambassador to Vietnam and representatives from many international diplomatic corps.

Addressing the ceremony, Oman Ambassador Sheikh Sultan Bin Saif Bin Hilal Al-Mahruqi said bilateral relations have developed comprehensively since the two countries established diplomatic ties on June 9 1992. They have signed a number of bilateral agreements and memorandum of understanding (MoUs) in air transport, trade, mutual protection of investments, avoidance of double taxation, and manpower. They have also exchanged many business delegations.
The two countries set up the Joint Committee on Economic and Technical Cooperation in 2008, resulting in the establishment of Vietnam-Oman Investment (VOI). The Joint Venture has invested in many important fields in Vietnam like health care, services, agriculture, energy and infrastructure.
The two ministries of foreign affairs set up a Political Consultation group in 2013 and held the first and second meetings in Muscat and Hanoi respectively. The two countries are preparing to hold the third meeting in Hanoi soon, said the ambassador.

2018 promises to achieve remarkable progress in bilateral ties, said Ambassador Chau.
This year also marks the 47th anniversary of the National Day of the Sultanate of Oman.
