Vietnam offers favorable conditions for UK businesses
VOV.VN - Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc has affirmed Vietnam's willingness to offer favorable conditions for UK investors to do business in the country.
At a meeting with Liam Fox, UK Secretary of State for International Trade, in Hanoi on February 23, PM Phuc expressed his wish that the UK will continue to support Vietnam in human resource training and Vietnamese students studying in the UK.
He urged the two countries to enhance bilateral cooperation to double current trade revenue of US$5.6 billion by 2020.
PM Phuc asked the UK to help accelerate the official enactment of the EU-Vietnam free trade agreement, suggesting both studying a new trade pact suitable to post-Brexit situation.
Vietnamese enterprises want to strengthen partnerships with their UK peers, who have strong capacity, experiences and technologies.
The Vietnamese government leader also hailed the effective operation of the British Council in Vietnam, wishing it more success in the future.
Liam Fox highlighted the cooperation between Vietnam and the UK in a multitude of fields, saying the UK, after Brexit, still looks to bolster economic cooperation with other nations by enhancing its investment overseas and ensuring free trade.
He underlined cooperation potential for the two countries, particularly in commercial airplane purchase, education and training, and national defence and security.
The UK has committed to support Vietnam in socio-economic development, which will also contribute to the UK’s prosperity, he told his host.
