Vietnam, Iran should focus on raising trade: Deputy PM

Vietnam and Iran should focus on promoting economic and trade cooperation to soon raise two-way trade value to US$2 billion as agreed by leaders of both sides, said Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Pham Binh Minh.

At a meeting in Hanoi on October 24 with Alaeddin Boroijerdi, Chairman of the National Security and Foreign Policy Commission of the Iranian Parliament, Deputy PM Minh lauded the traditional friendship between the two countries and showed delight at the successful visits of leaders of both sides.

He held that the two countries should continue coordinating closely to realise the agreements reached during the ninth meeting of the Vietnam-Iran Joint Committee.

For his part, Alaeddin Boroijerdi said that Vietnam is an important partner of Iran in the Southeast Asian region and Asia. He said he believes that bilateral ties will continue thrive in the future, meeting the aspiration and interest of the two people.

He also promised to advise the Iranian Government to direct ministries and sectors to coordinate with Vietnamese partners in effectively implementing agreements between the two countries, especially in banking, agriculture, aquaculture and mining.

He asserted that the two sides should create favourable conditions for enterprises to boost investment and business in each other’s market.

As the President of the Vietnam-Iran Friendship Parliamentarians Group, he will continue contributing to the comprehensive growth of bilateral relations for the prosperity of each country as well as the stability in the region and the world.
