Vietnam greatly values comprehensive partnership with US

VOV.VN -Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Pham Binh Minh has affirmed Vietnam’s recognition of great importance to its comprehensive partnership with the US, especially in trade and investment.

At a reception for Carlos Gutierrez, former United States Secretary of Commerce and Chair of Albright Stonebridge Group, in Hanoi on January 14, the Vietnamese diplomat said the figure of US$60 billion in bilateral trade delivered practical benefits to both sides, noting that Vietnam has adopted a policy of developing an independent, open and self-reliant economy and offering optimal conditions for foreign investors, including those from the US.

Thanks to the policy, the country has recorded the tremendous achievements over the past years, and it has signed and will ink a host of bilateral and multilateral free trade agreements, including the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership (CPTPP) which becomes effective on January 14, Minh told his guest.

He voiced his hope that the Albright Stonebridge Group will continue consulting US enterprises for their expansion of their investments in Vietnam.

For his part, Carlos Gutierrez said he is greatly impressed with Vietnam’s rapid changes, especially in economics and infrastructure and vowed his greater contributions to the development of US-Vietnam ties.
