Vietnam, Belarus boost military technology cooperation

Defence Deputy Minister Be Xuan Truong met with Smolsky Gennady Aleksandrovich, Vice Chairman of the State Military-Industrial Committee of the Republic of Belarus, in Hanoi on November 15.

At the meeting, both sides affirmed their willingness to boost all-round cooperation between Vietnam and Belarus, particularly in defence.

Truong spoke highly of the two countries’ partnership in military technology on the basis of mutual benefits over the year.

That partnership has helped reinforce the respective countries’ defence capacity and contributed to maintaining peace and security in the region, he noted.

He said he is confident in the future growth of the cooperation towards practical outcomes.

Vietnam and Belarus established official diplomatic relations in 1992.

In late October, the two countries signed a memorandum of understanding on the exchange of public security personnel.
