President hosts outgoing New Zealand Ambassador
VOV.VN - President Tran Dai Quang suggested Vietnam and New Zealand should bolster cooperation in agriculture and clean technology while receiving the outgoing New Zealand Ambassador to Vietnam, Haike Manning, in Hanoi on December 2.
President Quang said Vietnam welcomes and wishes to facilitate New Zealand investors in the country.
The State leader glowingly spoke of the ambassador’s contributions to developing the two countries’ comprehensive partnership and thanked New Zealand for its ODA funding for Vietnam.
He said both countries should augment cooperation in education and training, climate change response and law enforcement at sea.
President Quang conveyed his invitation to New Zealand PM John Key to attend the High-level Week of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Forum in the central city of Da Nang in November 2017.
The Ambassador said the launching of direct flights between Ho Chi Minh City and Auckland is necessary and pledged support for Vietnam’s hosting of the APEC Year next year.
He added that Vietnam and New Zealand need to enhance cooperation within the framework of regional mechanisms, considering it an important factor for regional prosperity and stability.
