PM receives Swedish, Myanmar diplomats

VOV.VN - Sweden is one of Vietnam’s important partners and has provided valuable support to Vietnam’s construction and development.

Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc made the statement at a June 29 reception for outgoing Swedish Ambassador to Vietnam Camila Mellander in Hanoi.

PM Phuc praised Sweden’s assistance for Vietnam in poverty reduction, health care, energy, judiciary, and rural development, saying Vietnam is improving its business climate to attract more investors including those from Sweden to boost bilateral economic ties.

Ambassador Camila Mellander in turn highlighted the development of the Vietnamese-Swedish relationship and cooperation.

She pledged greater efforts to boost ties with Vietnam and expressed her belief that bilateral trade and investment ties will grow in the time ahead, especially after the EU-Vietnam trade agreement officially becomes effective.

Meeting with Ambassador Win HLaing the same day, the cabinet leader affirmed Vietnam's recognition of high importance on developing the friendship and comprehensive cooperation with Myanmar for the sake of the two countries’ people, for cooperation and solidarity within ASEAN, and for peace, stability and cooperation in the region and the world as a whole.

Vietnamese businesses are keen to cooperate with their Myanmar partners, he said, calling on Myanmar to facilitate their operation in the country.

The ambassador pledged that he will make more contributions to stepping up cooperation between the two nations.
