PM Phuc jets off for 26th APEC Economic Leaders’ Meeting

VOV.VN - Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc departed Hanoi on the night of November 16 for Papua New Guinea to attend the 26th APEC Economic Leaders’ Meeting on November 17-18 at the invitation of Papua New Guinea’s Prime Minister Peter  O’Neill.

He was accompanied by Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Pham Binh Minh, Minister-Chairman of the Government Office Mai Tien Dung, Minister of Information and Communications Nguyen Manh Hung, and others.

This year marked Vietnam’s 20-year membership in the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) forum. Vietnam is among a few APEC members having hosted APEC summits twice, in 2006 and 2017. 

It is also among the most active members in proposing ideas and projects, authoring more than 100 projects in multiple fields. 

The country has held many positions in APEC committees and working groups. Its business community also actively participates in and makes many recommendations to APEC. 

As scheduled, PM Nguyen Xuan Phuc and his delegation will participate in all major activities of the APEC 2018 high-level week and meet with important partners as well as big business groups in the region.
