PM hosts National Day banquet in Hanoi

Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung hosted a banquet in Hanoi on August 30 for international guests on the occasion of the 68th National Day of Vietnam (September 2).

In his speech, he stated that Vietnam wants to further deepen cooperation with all nations and organisations in the region and the world.

Over the past 68 years, mutually-beneficial friendship and cooperation between Vietnam and global countries and organizations has strengthened and expanded across the board in an effective way.

Alongside other member nations, Vietnam strives to step up the process of building the ASEAN Community - a common house of the Southeast Asian nations, continue maintaining and upholding regional cooperative mechanisms like the East Asia Summit, the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation, and the ASEAN Regional Forum, he said.

The PM affirmed that within the framework of the United Nations, the Non-Aligned Movement as well as other multilateral cooperative mechanisms, Vietnam always does its best, together with foreign countries and organisations, to enhance cooperation, build and strengthen strategic trust in order to prevent conflict and settle differences for the sake of all people across the world, especially in poor areas.

The host said he believes on the back of sincere trust and warm feeling, constructive spirit and respect of mutual interests, all nations will overcome challenges to build a world of peace, friendship, stability, development and prosperity.

The Government leader also expressed his hope that ambassadors and diplomats in Vietnam will uphold their role for friendship between Vietnam and countries worldwide.

Venezuelan Ambassador to Vietnam Jorge Rondon Ucategui, acting head of the diplomatic corp said he believes Vietnam will make greater strides to become an industrialised and prosperous nation by 2020. He added he is hopeful that Vietnam will actively attend bilateral and multilateral forums for a world, creating a foundation in which all nations live in peace.
