Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc receives Italian Ambassador Cecilia Piccion (L).
At a reception in Hanoi on October 24 for the diplomat who came to bid farewell, marking the end of her tenure, PM Phuc said bilateral ties made great strides during her term, as shown by more Italian businesses having come to Vietnam to invest in the country and huge potential for stronger cooperation, especially in trade and investment.

The EU – Vietnam Free Trade Agreement (EVFTA) will serve as the driving force for elevating two-way trade turnover and investment, he said, while expecting that Italy will help accelerate the early signing and ratification of the EVFTA.

The Vietnamese Government will create optimal conditions for foreign investors, including those from Italy, he vowed and voiced hope that the Italian diplomat, no matter her future position, will continue contributing to Vietnam-Italy ties.

Ambassador Cecilia Piccion, in turn, thanked the Vietnamese government, ministries and authorities for their support during her working term in the country, and showed her hope for the early signing and ratification of the EVFTA.
