NA official: Vietnam treasures ties with China

Head of the National Assembly Committee for Deputy Affairs Tran Van Tuy has affirmed that Vietnam attaches special importance to developing stable, healthy and sustainable ties with China, considering it a strategic choice and top priority in its external policy.

Tuy, who is also deputy head of the Party Central Committee’s Organisation Commission, made the statement during a meeting in Beijing on December 20 with Vice Chairman and Secretary General of the National People’s Congress (NPC) of China Wang Chen.

He spoke highly of NPC Chairman Zhang Dejiang’s visit to Vietnam last month, which contributed to fostering the sustainable, stable and long-term development of the comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership between Vietnam and China, as well as ties between the two legislatures in the future.

Wang, for his part, congratulated Vietnam on its successful organisation of the 12th National Party Congress and the 14th NA election.

He said the ongoing visit is a follow-up to the successful one made by NPC Chairman Zhang last month, reflecting that the two legislatures treasure their bilateral ties.

Earlier on December 19, Tuy met NPC Vice Secretary General Chen Guomin, during which they discussed experience regarding apparatus, function, authorities and election procedures of the two legislative bodies.

The Vietnamese delegation is scheduled to visit several Chinese localities to learn about activities of their People’s Councils at all levels.
