NA leader sanguine of flourishing Vietnam-Japan ties

VOV.VN - National Assembly Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan expressed her pleasure at the sound development of relations between Vietnam and Japan during her reception given to Japanese Emperor Akihito and Empress Michiko in Hanoi on March 1.

The top legislator praised the time-honored historical ties, cultural similarities and common interests, saying that she was grateful for Japanese support in Vietnam's social economic development and major projects, including Can Tho Bridge. 

Both agreed on the need to promote environmental protection for better public health and life and shared their views on the importance of education in national development. 

The Emperor thanked the Vietnamese leaders and people's warm welcome during the visit he had expected for a long time while wishing for more bilateral friendship cooperation.  

The Emperor and Empress expressed their sympathy to the Vietnamese people over the losses caused by the impacts of climate change such as drought, saline intrusion and environmental pollution.

Both sides said countries worldwide need to pay greater attention to environmental protection for the sake of health and well-being of the people. They also shared common understanding on the importance of education to national development.
