Japanese locality wishes to bolster cooperation with Vietnam

Governor of Japan’s Mie prefecture, EIkei Sukuzi, hoped to bolster multi-faced cooperation with Vietnam, to further expand the two countries’ friendship and relations.

The announcement came on the occasion of Vietnamese Ambassador to Japan Nguyen Quoc Cuong’s visit to the locality from April 9-11.

Speaking at the meeting, the governor praised the ambassador’s visit and wished to welcome all foreign countries’ leaders, including those from Vietnam, to introduce the province’s cooperation potentials.

During the three-day visit, the ambassador met Chairman of the provincial council Nakamura Shinichi. 

The pair asserted that Japan highly evaluated Vietnam’s position and potential in the fields of commerce and investment, health, manpower training, people-to-people exchanges and tourism.

The ambassador affirmed his willingness to act as a bridge and support the locality in intensifying cooperation with Vietnamese localities in such areas.

He also had meeting with the Friendship Association with Vietnam and some local enterprises.

Mie prefecture is located on the main Honsu island of Japan with a population of 1.8 million. The gross domestic product (GDP) of the locality is about US$71 billion a year with its strengths in seafood, industry, environmental technology and tourism.
