Japan, Vietnam boost science-technology joint work

Vietnam’s scientific research capabilities were introduced at a seminar held in Osaka city, Japan on April 5, which attracted over 50 professors and lecturers from universities and research institutes in Osaka, Kobe and Kyoto.

Representatives from the Vietnamese Consulate General in Osaka presented Vietnam’s orientations and policies for scientific-technological development, international cooperation, and operations of the National Technology Innovation Fund.

They spoke highly of Japan’s effective support in building the Hoa Lac hi-tech park, the Aero centre and the Vietnam – Japan University, and pledged to further joint work in scientific research, technology transfer and human resources training with Japanese research institutes and universities in the Osaka – Kansai region, in accordance with the 2006 Vietnam – Japan scientific and technical cooperation agreement.

Japanese representatives expressed their interest in working with Vietnam in research and technology transfer in their fields of strength, including health care, biotechnology, agriculture, fisheries, environment and eco-friendly fuels.

The seminar was co-hosted by the Vietnamese Consulate General in Osaka, the Osaka Science and Technology Centre and the Osaka International Science Club.
