HCM City, Vientiane unite to develop beef industry

On May 30, at talks with Vientiane Governor Sinlavong Khoutphathoune, the two leaders affirmed their ‘historic friendship and deep strategic partnership’, highlighting how far their relationship has come over the past decade.

The two leaders’ discussions focused on progress the two regions’ cattle growers and beef industries have made over recent years and long range plans to promote further expansion into these segments of the economy.

“While beef production has faced many challenges, it holds tremendous promise to become the largest segment of the agriculture industry in both regions in the near future,” said Mr Thang.

The leaders dilated on the trends and issues potentially impacting the beef community and Mr Thang committed to encourage Vietnamese local companies to continue investing heavily in Laos, so that progress can be most successful moving forward.

The mission is to establish a beef community dedicated to growing beef demand by producing and marketing the safest, healthiest, most delicious beef that satisfies the desires of population, said Mr Thang.

They also discussed opportunities to collectively boost tourism and hospitality in both regions and strengthen cooperation related to governmental budgetary and financial reporting matters.
