Germany backs Vietnam’s stance in settling East Sea dispute

Germany supports Vietnam’s stance of settling the East Sea dispute by peaceful means on the basis of international law, said visiting Chief of Staff of the German Army General Rainer Schuwirth.

The German official made the statement while meeting with Senior Lieutenant General Vo Van Tuan, Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the Vietnam People’s Army, in Hanoi on October 31, according to Quan doi Nhan dan (People’s Army) newspaper.

He said that through the visit, he and his entourage have a chance to better their understanding about the land and people of Vietnam as well as the heroic Vietnam People’s Army.

For his part, Tuan stressed the significance of the visit, saying it helps strengthen mutual understanding and cooperation between the two armies.
