French media highlight Prime Minister’s visit to Vietnam
The French media highlighted the first working day of Prime Minister Edouard Philippe during his Vietnam visit from November 2-4, with a number of economic contracts signed.
The Le Figaro said France could tap opportunities from Vietnam, a Southeast Asian country with a 95-million population and an annual economic growth of nearly 7 percent.
The volume of made-in-France goods in Vietnam remains modest at under 1 percent of the market, behind Italy and only half of that from Germany.
It said the Pacific and Indian Ocean axis under the auspices of President Emmanuel Macron is part of Hanoi’s priority diplomatic policy, adding that France’s messages calling for respect for maritime law and navigation freedom in the Pacific and Indian Ocean have yielded fruits.
