Flourishing Vietnam- US relations

VOV.VN - Vietnam-US relations have progressed well, said Deputy Defense Minister Nguyen Chi Vinh at a reception for US Assistant Secretary for East Asian and Pacific Affairs Daniel Russel in Hanoi May 10.

Vinh said he hopes the US will continue to support Vietnam in preparing forces to join UN peacekeeping activities, handling dioxin contamination, searching  and dismantling landmines and unexploded ordnance left from the war, and continuing the search for servicemen who were reported missing in action (MIA) during the Vietnam war.

Daniel Russel said he believes Vietnam-US army cooperation will continue to expand, contributing to regional peace and cooperation. 

The two officials said US President Barack Obama’s coming visit to Vietnam will help elevate bilateral ties to a higher level.
